Winter Artist Studio Build Out

One of my greatest hopes for the space is to have a variety of artists working side by side. Before I could delineate new work spaces, I had to make a blank slate and see what the building could accommodate. After the first couple months of tearing things out it was time to start the first major building transformation - artist studio rooms in the secondary back garage.

The lower garage was closed in to make way for three artist studios and a common area.

Started framing up walls right as winters started and new furnace was going in - brr.

Panorama of the common area after hanging drywall and some initial plastering. Three doorways in the left half of the picture are the artist rooms and the shared kitchen is to the right.

My mother donated this antique door and her time and expertise installing it. The flooring in this room was made from reclaimed skid wood (see below).

Our long term resident Nic processed countless skids to cover his studio floor. A mix of oak and pine create beautiful tonal and textual contrasts.. All for free!
