Much planning and preparation has been going on behind the scenes but I am very excited to finally announce the artists visiting for the first official summer residency program! Space is still available into the fall on a rolling basis. More information and application here.
Shannon Slane - With a background in industrial design and sculpture, Slane will be renovating a 1968 Airstream Continental travel trailer. Her experience as a installation artist in New Orleans will not only added a touch of whimsy to this mobile art space but also to our storefront and display windows as well. Follow her progress on Instagram @adogcalledjunior. That's right, we can't wait to have her rescue greyhound, Junior, hanging out in the garage workshop all summer too!
Nathan Pearce - An Illinois-based photographer, Pearce captures life in the Midwest and assembles it into handmade photo zines. His new series will be based on his experience in and around Hortonville. His residency kicks off with the opening of Here and Away at the Art Garage in Green Bay on July 3 where some of his previous work will be on display.
Trina May Smith - In late July, Smith will be working en plein air around Hortonville to create a series of sketch paintings. She hopes to build on a theme of architectural decay and destruction from previous work.
Lydia Enriquez - A painter and decorative artist in New York, she examines the complex layers of nature through an unexpected use of materials.
Robert Fraher - With a diverse background in media and performance, Fraher plans to build a web-based site specific storytelling piece for Standard Projects and its surrounding community starting in mid-August. He is a interactive web design professor at UW- Stout.
We are thrilled to have a diverse and enthusiastic group of visitors enriching the space throughout the summer!
